I am a really happy men! It was always my big dream to win here in front of one of the world's best cheering spectators. A big dream came true!
I had no time to celebrate untill the race has been finished, as Roul Paulissen was only 11 seconds behind. But at the end it was enough!
We have been a group of 5-10 riders the hole race long who were batteling for the win.
I attacked in a difficult and rooty section, where I had a big benefit of my fullsuspenson Scalpel. There I could make up a good cap, but Roul came back again, and only on the last fiew 100 meters I was safe for the win because he crased behind me in a slipery corner.
After crossing the line there were a lot of Belguim beer waiting for the podium celebration as well as for the team dinner!
I am really happy for the hole team and for the sponsors, too, because they made such a good job all the year long and it was very nice to share my victory with them.
