1 start lap + 6 laps, 45km, 1.59h
23rd place, 4.25min off winner Nino Schurter
My worst ever world cup opener since I am racing pro! At least lots of room to improve...
I had a good start, but broke 4 spokes. In the heat of the battle somebody rode into my back wheel. I did not want to change wheel at the beginning of lap one, since it would have cost me crazy many places. I still completed one whole lap, and then I had no more chance to keep on racing. The spokes tangled up into my cassette at one point. I had to stop and tired to get them out.
Finally the wheel change went pretty quick, except we also had to readjust the rear brake, because the disc was rubbing on the caliper. Unfortunately that adjustment went not pro style. It kept on rubbing for the entire race. It was a head and leg breaker!! I still moved up around 25 places though, but it is not cool when you are still far away to the finish on the last lap, and you can hear the speaker going crazy about the sprint finish for first.
Burry had a great race and ended up third, Todd had saddle issues, and Lene a bit of "sore" legs during her race. Hopefully next weekend in Houffalize everything is coming together again!
