88km, 3900 meters of climbing, 4.35hrs racing time
First Place, 7min. ahead

It was a very good change to do a marathon race again, after all the XC races I have done over the last few months... Not only for my mind, I think it also has a good training affect, especially because we will have hard and steep climbing at the Worlds.

My only stress was at 07:00am, when I had to find somebody who would feed me for the race! Pretty important... Some of my friends were racing in the fun category and the others did not wanna wake up so early in the morning. Well, a few seconds before take off I found a team manager who handed me my bottles and Sponser gels out very well!

For half of the race I stayed up front, but did not want to attack too early. The end of the race was an hour of climbing straight up and I waited until we reached the foot of this climb to make my move. I managed to break away immediately and finished happy but tired 7min. ahead of Swiss marathon specialist, Sandro Späth.

One of the links is from the race, the other is of my racing Scalpel, shown in the Swiss Sport Show after the race.
