9laps, 2hrs Racing Time

...and now a first!

I felt winning pressure, especially from my side, after all these places around the top spot on the
podium!

Before the start I was still on my super light Maxxis Flyweight tires, since the course was dry, but one hour before the start, dark rain clouds showed up....
After a few discussions, Benno, my mechanic and I decided to change to the all condition Maxxis High
Roller tires.

During the time Benno started changing tires, I warmed up on the rollers on my spare carbon Scalpel, but I got too board on it, sitting still. After he finished the front tire change, I took the risk and went out on my race bike with a Flightweight on the rear! But if it rained I could still change my rear wheel during the race.

Luckily this was the perfect setup. I felt so strong during the whole race, and with 3 laps to go it was only last week's winner, Bui, and me riding for the victory. On the second last climb I could feel his hard breathing and I started to pedal harder. There I made up a 15 to 20sec. gap on him which I held all the way until the end.

I am sure this victory also came together because
we had such a good week here in Willingen with the
whole team together.

Thanks a lot to all the team members, and our hotel chef!

Sleep well, eat well and train well, this is what it's all about during world cup weeks. Ok, that with training was not so much! Only seven very easy hours of saddle time.
I spent more time on the massage table and whirl pool than on my bike this week! It worked!
