5.5 laps, 2.59 hrs,
4th Place, 1.52 min off first,
I wish I would have just 1% of the power of a Formula one car at the start today. How unique is it to start at the same location, same start line and same start hill like the formula 1 cars always take off at the spa grand prix here in belgium?
Ok, my start was not too bad, since this was my first real XC race of the season, and also when the start road is so wide, that even racers with high numbers can push up front.
But today I lost more time and places in the start loop, after I crashed into a big mud hol
e where the organisers changed the course before the race. I thought I knew it better than the other guys who walked at that spot. My dive was deep, soft and wet!
Sure, after that misfortune I lost race spirit, but I fought my way back towards the end. All the hard endurance Cape-Epic races payed off, and on the last lap I could not believe that I was riding into top five.
This was my second best start into a World Cup season so far, after the opening win in St.Wendel 2003, but then it was already May.
