Racing Time: 2.29h Final Position: 11th
I don't think I am such a bad guy that I deserve to always have bad luck at the World Championships over the past 3 years and also at the Athens Olympics!!!
I really hope for better times, but at the moment it is very hard to think of putting all the effort into it again for next year. But I am sure in a few days the fire will be lit up again...
For the whole week and during the Dh and 4X races the weather was great in the French Alps around Les Gets. But the shitty rain was on for 4 hours straight just before the xc races.
I just do not have the talent and strength in these conditons. For me it's like a marathon runner having to run in 20cm of fresh snow and even having to rope at some stages...
My start was bad but after one lap I fought my way back almost to the leaders. But then I had big time chain problems. The mud with little stones made my small (I ride 2 speed) unuseable. I tried to clean it a few times, but then after I got annoyed I hammered in the big ring only! My chain was under really big tension but I did not care any more...
I lost all the race spirit, but I never drop out of a race as long as I can make my way to the finish. Finally I made up a few places and at least I "won" some UCI points.
