It was dry but pretty cold for Italy, but I definitely do not want to complain about the weather when I think back to the first Liquigas in Brescia with all it's snow on the course!
I missed my call up so I had to start in the second row. But this was not the problem when I found myself in around 20th position going into the first real climb. I still feel like racing for training and not racing to race. I am just not nervous enough yet to get the real fire I need for a fast start.
At least with the time I moved up and passed one rider after the other, especially on the long steep climb. Finally in the last lap Marco Bui was the last rider I caught and I found myself in 3rd place. I was very happy!
